Schumann Resonance

The Schumann resonances are a set of spectrum peaks in the extremely low frequency (ELF) portion of the Earth's electromagnetic field spectrum. These natural electromagnetic resonances are formed in the cavity between the Earth's surface and the ionosphere.

Named after physicist Winfried Otto Schumann who mathematically predicted them in 1952, these resonances occur because the space between the Earth and ionosphere acts as a resonant cavity.
